What is MitesPlus?
MitesPlus is a partnership between Skatetown and Capital Thunder Youth Hockey to develop and prepare players at the 8U/Mite level for competitive travel hockey.
Who can participate in MitesPlus?
For the 2024-2025 season, players with 2017 and 2016 birth years can participate. Players must be registered in Skatetown’s fall/winter youth league Mite program or Squirt/Peewee program.
How does MitesPlus work?
To maximize player development, players attend and participate in Skatetown’s youth league which includes one weekly practice and house league games on Sundays at Skatetown, as well as Thunder’s travel program that includes weekly practice, exhibition games, and NorCal jamborees.
What is the cost for MitesPlus?
Cost includes:
- Skatetown registration and fees for youth league fall/winter $925
- Capital Thunder registration and fees ($1,100 last season)
- USA Hockey registration (approximately $35)
- Travel costs associated with games and jamborees (varies)
How can my player participate in MitesPlus?

MitesPlus is limited to 20 players.
When are practices and games?
Skatetown youth league Mites practice on Fridays at 5pm and games are on Sundays at 3:45pm. Skatetown youth league Squirt/Peewees practice on Monday evenings at either 5:15pm or 6:30pm and games are on Sundays at 1:45 or 3pm. The fall/winter youth league will begin in September and end March.
Thunder practice days/times, games and jamboree schedules will be determined in July. The Thunder season begins in mid August and ends in February.
